Study Rationale
The purpose of the study is to investigate mechanisms that may contribute to
challenges with dual tasking among people living with MS. There is a large body
of research suggesting that people with MS report difficulties performing dual
tasks. Other research demonstrates changes in excitability and inhibition in the
nervous system in people with MS that could impact physical and cognitive
function.
No work to date has directly studied these nervous system changes in
the context of dual tasking in people with MS. Findings made in this study could
inform the development of biomarkers of disease progression and the design of
new treatment approaches that address dual tasking deficits.
